"Praying Women" Sculpture

Dedicated in 2021, the "Praying Women" sculpture honors the women whose strength and faith sustained the community through generations.

Created by Guatemalan artist Dr. Keith L. Andrews, the sculpture recognizes, among others: "Aunt" Katie Owens; Mable Owens Clarke's grandmother, Rosie Owens Gowens; Mable's mother, Lula Mae McJunkin Owens; and of course, Mable. These women helped preserve the community's traditions, values, and future.
